SEO stands for ‘Search Engine Optimisation’. What does this mean? In simple terms, optimising your website and content so that it can be found more easily in search engines such as Google, Bing, Yahoo and some less known ones such as DuckDuckGo.
The name of the game in SEO is to offer the best and most relevant content and in a user friendly manner, so that the search engines can quickly match the intent of the user to their search query. A search query is also known as a keyword (a keyword can in fact be one word or plural, such as a phrase).
SEO isn’t to be confused with PPC (Pay Per Click), whereby an advertiser pays to appear in the ads at the top or bottom of a SERP (search engine results page). Because SEO doesn’t require a media budget to appear in the SERPs, this
channel of marketing is also referred to as ‘organic search marketing’.
It’s understood that there are in the region of 200 ranking signals which Google picks up on in order to determine which website pages to display in the SERPs and in what order.
Search engines tend to keep their cards close to their chest when it comes to telling us about ranking signals, however, there are distinct rules which they qualify as best practise.
Good SEO results come from implementing what we know explicitly from following search engine rules, mixed with an understanding of empirical data from years of hands on experience.
The SEO channel can be complex and time consuming to see gains; ranking improvements are often incremental and require a bit of patience. A guaranteed number 1 position at the top of Google cannot and should not be guaranteed by any agency.
However, a good bit of research, well-thought out strategy and dedication over the long-term, should yield fantastic results.
Every SEO strategy should be unique to your business and website, taking into consideration the history of your site and link profile, the platform it’s built on, the industry you work in, your competition among many things.
We’d first get to understand your business before carrying out research, planning and implementing the strategy. The core SEO services we deliver are:
